Ivan Folghera BHSc. (Acupuncture) is an AHPRA-registered Chinese Medicine practitioner. He sees patients of all ages and backgrounds and has a particular focus on making care accessible, including for those who may feel uncertain about what Chinese Medicine involves or who have concerns about needles.
Ivan uses gentle techniques throughout his practice. For patients who prefer to avoid needles entirely, he offers needle-free alternatives that are suitable for adults and children alike. He explains his approach clearly before and during each session, so you know what is happening and why.
No two patients receive the same treatment plan. Ivan builds each plan from the individual assessment and adjusts as needed. He does not use a fixed protocol.
The following Traditional Chinese Medicine services are available at Fēng Shén zhī Dào:
Needle-Free Treatment provides an alternative for patients who prefer not to receive needles. This includes bodywork-based approaches available for adults and children. Ivan discusses options at the first consultation.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. It is one of the oldest health practices in recorded history.
Moxibustion uses heat applied near acupuncture points, generated from dried mugwort. It is a gentle, warming technique often used as part of a broader treatment plan.
Chinese Herbal Medicine involves individually prescribed plant-based formulas developed after a detailed assessment. Formulas are specific to each patient’s constitution and presentation.
Cupping Therapy uses suction cups placed on the skin over specific areas. The technique may involve stationary cups or cups moved across the skin, depending on the approach.
Gua Sha and Chinese Massage use firm, targeted pressure applied to soft tissue using a smooth-edged tool or manual technique.
Chinese Medicine Lifestyle Advice uses Traditional Chinese Medicine principles to offer practical guidance on diet, sleep, physical activity and daily routine.
The first appointment at Fēng Shén zhī Dào is a detailed assessment. Ivan works through your health history and current circumstances before making any recommendations. He explains what he has observed and what he proposes at every stage, and you are not committed to continuing beyond that first session.
Treatment frequency and duration vary from person to person. Ivan is straightforward about expectations from the outset.
