
Autumn is very much upon us! 🍁
The days are shortening in length, the weather is cooling and nature will soon show its beauty as the vibrant greens turn to oranges and yellows.
Nature is preparing for a period of dormancy and the Yin phase of winter by shedding the leaves that will no longer serve as efficient and useful during the months where sunlight is diminished.
So too, does the season of Autumn call upon our bodies and our minds to let go of that which we should not carry into winter.
We let go because Autumn corresponds to the Metal element, and rules over the Lung and Large Intestine who work together to bring in new Qi from the air and let go of the turbid things that are left over from the processes of digestion and metabolism.
In addition to letting go, there will be a sense of grief for the things we choose to release from our lives coming into winter, as grief is the emotion processed by the lungs.
