Winter is a contracting season for storage and inner reflection. This is a Yin period, where inactivity and consolidation are important to support mental, physical and emotional health. Overdoing it in your external pursuits, such as exercise, social engagements and activities after dark inhibits this consolidation and thus should be avoided.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you should be idle and inactive, or anti-social all winter.

But it is important to reduce and be aware of your attendance to these activities so as to not impair the necessary process that Winter invites us into.
