The weather is cooling dramatically – the nights and mornings are cold and the sun is hidden behind the clouds! The dormancy of winter has arrived!

Winter corresponds to the element of Water and so we now go deep into our bodies – just as being submerged in the ocean – to find a restorative space before the expansive growth of Spring.

In this space, it’s likely and normal to feel low in energy, low in motivation and feel somnolent (as though you’d like to go to sleep).

It is important to listen to this physiological pull to rest, restore and recharge. The Winter is the best time to nourish the Yin of the body by using internally warming foods prepared using Yin cooking methods.

Check our next few updates for some tips on how to manage your health this Winter to achieve deep restoration in preparation for Spring and Summer!
